The Directors

Coastal Health started from a shared vision between Dr. Sarah Pickett and Dr. Leah Lewis that the people of Newfoundland and Labrador have access to quality healthcare services. Services that are informed by you, the client. Both Sarah and Leah had been practicing privately for many years leading up to the start of Coastal Health and continue to see clients at the practice as well as facilitate and support training opportunities for the next generation of mental health providers. They foster a collaborative environment for allied health providers that share diversity of thought, experience, and education in an effort to better service the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
As Coastal Health grew, Kathleen Hackett joined as a Director Operations to help with logistical support for the directors, associates and clients. Kathleen has managed residential facilities with adults and youth in the social service sector for over 10 years. Kathleen created and coordinated client intervention programming and staff training in inclusion, crisis management, behaviour intervention, and client care. Later, Kathleen returned to school to study engineering and technology. Influenced by their work history and personal experiences, Kathleen is now completing their masters in geography at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Their research studies accessibility to, and experience of, healthcare for members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
